Spamalot

Isn't it strange how sometimes when there is a theme to the things you do? Well, in the last couple of month, the theme of "King Arthur" and "Spamalot" has occured several time. First there was the Coconut Orchestra, then there was Arthur's tomb in Glastonbury and to complete the hat trick, I finally went to see the musical Spamalot (it's about King Arthur and has coconuts in it) on 11 June 2007.

It was pure Monty Python silliness on stage, basically about the quest of King Arthur looking for knights to sit at the round table, but in the end turns into a quest to put on a West End production. Along the way, they met the French who were rude to them and catapulted cows at them, killer rabbits, search for a Jew (in order to have a successful West End production) and the revelation that Lancelot was gay! Oh, don't forget the Knights of Ni and their request for a shrubbery. There was even a brief visit to Finland where they sang the Fisch Schlapping Song!

All in all, pure nonsense, but what wonderful nonsense it was. Not sure how you would appreciate it if you weren't a fan of the Pythons, though I think you'd enjoy it anyhow.
