Slumber Party
On Saturday night I had a slumber party... not with Lynn, but with Dex! Since my last blog, there was a change of plan. Lynn had a case of food poisoning and so wasn't really up for a sleepover, but my sister offered to let Dex stay overnight with us, but without his mom or the maid!! What a brave boy!
As usual my sister spent some time telling him the plan for the what is going to happen, so he happily anticipated going home with us. We all met at dinner in a restaurant called "Ka Soh" with my uncle and aunt (dad's sister), my cousins (inc. Lynn) and their children. It was nice food and the fish head curry (their signature dish) was very good. After the feast, Claire (Lynn's niece who is 1 month older than Dex) showed her maternal instinct. She wanted to carry the baby, and then spent a long time touching his legs and hands and kissing the baby. She even commented, while touching his thigh, "So big!". (Right: Claire, Jo Jo and my boob)After that Dex followed his Babu, Poh Poh and me home, where he spent a while playing ball and running around which also involves me playing ball and running around. I had to slowly coax him into wearing his pajamas and drinking his bedtime milk. We were sleeping on the floor in Babu's room. He still wanted to play but at about 11 pm, Babu turned off all the lights. In the dark, he tried to call me and ask where his mom is but I did not answer him. When he finished his milk, he asked in the saddest voice where his mom is. Afraid that he would cry I told him that she is at Ma Ma's (other grandma) house and she will come and get him the next day. With that reassurance he went straight to sleep.
At night, I changed his diaper once, and he did not wake until 7 am for some milk, and then slept again until 9am. When he woke, he smiled at me and called my name. Then we went for breakfast - he had a soft-boiled egg and toast. Then we played and at 12 noon, he asked for more egg and bread which I made for him!!! Then we went out for lunch and he ate again! On the way back we stopped in the toy section and his Babu bought him a ten-pin bowling set. His mom came to get him about 3pm just as I was about to try and get him to have his nap!!
So it was a rather successful slumber party with this little boy. He enjoys himself at Babu's house and as long as we keep him occupied and happy he is easy to manage.
