Sadness

Late on Wednesday 20 December, my aunt Cheng Sam French, passed away. She was my aunt's sister-in-law, and a very nice lady whom I got to know since I arrived in London. She has been very supportive of me and treated me like close family.

It was only in September/October time when her backache got worse that she went to see the doctor and then got referred to specialists. In November she was told she had cancer in her spine area.

When my parents came over, we went to see her on 27 November. She was still at home walking with the aid of sticks. She was going to go for radiation to ease the pain while they do more investigation. Soon it was discovered it could have started as cancer in her lung (non-smoking related). So she underwent her first chemotherapy session.

However, she was kept in hospital to be monitored. The cancer spread agressively and was found in her brain. She became very weak and the doctors could not send her for anymore treatment. In mid December she was moved to a hospice and she died there a few days later.

I will miss her. She was like family to me and she always had a good disposition and was always laughing. She left behind her husband, Chris, and 2 daughter, Alice and Helen.
